The Stanley-Brown Safety Plan

The evidence-based safety-planning template, free to download, that hospitals and crisis services use after a suicidal episode.

Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention6 min read

The Stanley-Brown Safety Plan is the most-studied safety-planning intervention in the world, used by 988, the VA, and most U.S. emergency departments after a suicidal crisis. It is a structured, single-page document the patient builds collaboratively with a clinician — warning signs, internal coping strategies, social distractions, people to call, professionals, and means-restriction steps.

Free templates and instructional materials are on the official site. Worth having on hand for clinicians, families, and patients themselves.
