Urgent adult mental health crisis referrals in England doubled in a year
Very urgent referrals to crisis teams rose to 3,063 in March 2024 from 1,400 a year earlier.
The Guardian's reporting on NHS data shows very urgent adult mental health crisis referrals more than doubled in a single year, a sharp marker of strain on community and crisis services across England.
The figures are consistent with the longer trend the CQC, Rethink, and NHS Providers have all documented from different angles.
