Federal agencies issue final mental health parity rules — official press statement
CMS's joint press release with DOL and Treasury frames the rules as the biggest parity-enforcement step in a decade.
The CMS announcement of the joint DOL/HHS/Treasury final rules captures the federal framing: more than 150 million people with private coverage stand to benefit, plans will be required to fix identified gaps, and enforcement now has the documentation hooks that the 2008 MHPAEA statute was missing.
Read alongside the DOL participant fact sheet, the release is the closest thing the federal government has produced to a plain-English summary of the rule.
