Mental Hum began out of necessity: a safe space to explore mental health topics without bias and without agenda. Mental health news is everywhere, and most of it is alarmist or difficult to decipher. We wanted something else · a single, careful page, edited like a Sunday paper, that respects both the reader and the subject.
This app is Mental Hum's daily reading list, in your pocket. It reads the public wires of trusted outlets · peer-reviewed journals, research foundations, academic medical centres, public broadcasters, science desks · and publishes two stories a day, each with one sentence of the paper's own beneath it. Everything else it gathers is searchable in News. Every story links to the original outlet, because the reporting belongs to the people who did it.
The Library is the part we are proudest of: two hundred plain-language resources across fourteen shelves, each one opened and read before it was added, each naming who published it. It is the part of this app we would want a stranger to find first.
The Library and the Urgent Help page live entirely on your device, so they are there even without a connection. Nothing you read, save, or search ever leaves your phone · there are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

Headlines are set in Iowan Old Style. Body text is DM Sans, bundled under the SIL Open Font License. The easier-reading mode uses OpenDyslexic, also bundled under the SIL Open Font License.
